Qustion of the Day: House Call

Comments

Similarly, I watched a news report in my local area where a car accident left a woman pinned in her car and the car caught fire. Many passersby stopped to help but none had a fire extinguisher. She suffered serious burns to her face and body, but they did manage to attach a chain to her door and using a truck, tore it loose so they could pull her out.

I vowed to keep a fire extinguisher with me at all times since then. I have two different occasions to use them. There is no excuse for not equipping yourself with one. They cost around $12.00 from any hardware store.

Good for you. We all have to take action to make our society a better place. We may not have the authority to intervene, but we certainly have the responsibility to inform those who do. Additionally, if it is obvious someone in suffering immediate harm, it is incumbent upon us to interfere, authority or not. Right is right, apathy is wrong.

Thank you, JudgeBob. I agree. We have a fire extinguisher near the kitchen, in the far room, and in the hall which gets refilled every 2 years. Just in case. I hope the woman in this story is alright. Couldn't anyone pull her out through the window? Maybe she was too injured. I don't know the whole story so I cannot judge it.

I do agree that we ARE our brothers keepers. Since when did we abandon our GOD-given responsibilities to an unnamed entity? (Yes, with rights come responsibilities.) This is what I find astonishing. People are so eager to allow so many crooks to take care of them just as long as THEY don't have to lift a finger.

I believe this is where the predominately mememe attitude began to spring roots. We need more prayers in this country! We need more morality.

Oh? We cannot legislate morality? What are all these 'hate crimes' on the books then? That is a 'moral' call, because there sure isn't any sense to be made from them! Not when homosexuals murder children and no one ever hears of it...

How did I get off the topic? Ah, yes. Morality. We need to define it, live be it, and make laws accordingly. Thou shalt not murder, thou shalt not give false testimony, thou shalt not commit adultry, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor (nor tax them out of jealousy), thou shalt not steal, and THOU SHALT HONOR THY MOTHER AND FATHER. I have just written the entire (God neutral) legal code. How hard is that? lol

I love the "names have been changed to protect the innocent"...very funny. And a very cool story. I'm in the process of trying to get the old man to agree to adopt this adorable half Husky half Rottie pup at the shelter. She is soooo cute! And she has his favortie dog (Rott) and mine (Husky). PERFECT. Now if only she came potty trained, without teeth or claws and never required vet visits or food....lol!

Have you ever tried the old, 'There going to murder my puppy if I don't rescue him' thing on him? It always works. You just have to do it in a not-whiney but seriously sad kind of way. Besides, it's the truth. You have the truth on your side, so it should be even more convincing. If not, then he doesn't get any either! Well, I won't say that. I'd just go rescue him myself! What could he say? Take him back after the pup shows him how much he luvs him? ;) You are doing a good thing by saving one of God's creatures. BTW, stay out of those places! You cannot adopt them all! :(
I relate to that last sentence. I went into a shelter looking for a border collie. I came out with a mixed pit bull! She's awesome though. I've got some pictures of her up on my old blog at http://judgeright.blogspot.com
